CMNW aims to share the message that God created all things well. “And God saw everything that he had made, and behold it was very good.” (Genesis 1:31). Man’s sin has spoiled that perfection, but God will create ‘new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells’ (2 Peter 3:13). ...

For nearly a year, the world has been completely dominated by Covid-19, a highly infectious virus that has resulted in adverse health and economic effects not seen since the Spanish Flu in 1918. Everything in our daily lives which we once took for granted has now been challenged....

From the enormity of the galaxies to the incredibly small atom, the stuff everything in the universe is made from – matter, everything is extraordinarily intricate. Then there are all the forces that interact with matter, gravity to name just one; the fundamental laws that predict how matter behaves, and all the hundreds of thousands of combinations of atoms that...

CMNW is now in its 15th year and we thank everyone who has supported this work both by attendance or financially. Our aim has always been to share the science that convincingly supports Creation, and to point people to the God who made everything....

The perception of time underpins our entire lives, we were each created by God at a specific time and we will all die at a specific time set by God. Throughout our lives time rules every single action or thought; we cannot perceive what it means to exist outside of time, to have no beginning or end....

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 19 begins: “The heavens declare the glory of God, and the firmament (or sky above) proclaims His handiwork.” We have clear evidence set before us every day and every night that God is the Creator, and that this creation declares His glory....

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.

Another year has flown by and we have all experienced times of joy and of sorrow. CMNW has continued to organise meetings in the area, and we thank you for your continued support. In contemplating the subject “Creation or Evolution: Fact or Fable?” My thoughts turned to Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 7: 13&14) where He speaks of the narrow and wide gates; one leading to life and the other to destruction. He tells us that the wide gate leads to a broad way that is taken by many people to their ultimate ruin. By contrast, the narrow gate and harder path is much less popular, but is much more rewarding.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

Creation Matters North-West (CMNW) has now celebrated its tenth anniversary, our first meeting was held at Emmanuel Church, Workington on 29 January 2005. Our aim has always been to help Christians to be confident in the Bible’s teaching on Creation (recognising the challenges of living within a secular, atheistic and materialistic society). It was appropriate therefore that Steve Layfield spoke on the “Relevance of Genesis” at that inaugural meeting.

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”

The Bible begins with the words “In the beginning God created…” Creation Matters North-West (CMNW) was set up in 2005 to help people to realise that science actually aligns with what is written in the Bible, and that there is strong evidence to support concepts such as incredibly detailed design (fearfully and wonderfully made), a catastrophic flood (covering the whole earth), and a created order that is relatively young. We are told in our education establishments and in the media that science has an alternative view regarding the beginning. To what extent is that view based on the need to exclude God? We have a confidence that God has given us an eyewitness account in His Word, and we need to be confident to trust the Word of God.
